Jahrhundert gab es unter orthodoxen Christen im Orient (einschlie\u00dflich des Landes Israel) eine wachsende Tendenz, die Souver\u00e4nit\u00e4t des Papstes in Rom anzuerkennen. Der erste Beweis f\u00fcr die Existenz eines griechisch-orthodoxen Klosters und einer griechisch-orthodoxen Kirche in Akko aus der osmanischen Zeit ist vermutlich der des M\u00f6nchsordens Eugene Roger, der die Stadt 1631 besuchte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">35 Jahre sp\u00e4ter besuchte Akko der Arzt Gabriel Bremond aus Marseille. Bremond erkl\u00e4rte, dass die griechisch-orthodoxe Kirche, die einst (1666) nach St. Nikolaus benannt und von Facher El-Din renoviert worden war, zur sch\u00f6nsten Kirche der Levante geworden Kirche<\/h3>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die maronitische Kirche befindet sich derzeit im s\u00fcdwestlichen Teil von Akko, neben der griechisch-katholischen Kirche St. Andreas und dem Kloster Notre Dame de Nazareth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Maroniten (die aus dem Libanon stammen) wurden nach den Kreuzz\u00fcgen aus Akko verbannt und kehrten h\u00f6chstwahrscheinlich w\u00e4hrend der Herrschaft von Facher el-Din dem Zweiten in die Stadt zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n\n\n<!-- Close div to element full width  -->\n<\/div>\n<div
